LED strip light connecting wire connector correct connection method
1, Tools and materials preparation
LED strip light
Wire (usually two-core wire, positive and negative wire)
Connectors or welding tools
Scissors or wire cutters
Wire strippers
Electrical tape or heat shrink tubing
Multimeter (for testing voltage and current)
DC12V or 24V power supply (choose according to the specifications of the strip)
Screwdriver
2. Safety Measures
Make sure the power supply is turned off to avoid any risk of electric shock.
Wear protective gloves and glasses during operation.
Steps for connecting LED strip light with wires
1、Determine the positive and negative poles of the light strip
Each LED strip is usually labeled with + and - symbols indicating positive and negative poles. The markings are usually in the copper patch area of the light strip.
2、Cutting the strip
Cut the LED strip according to the demand. Be sure to cut the strip at the cut mark to ensure that the circuit will not be damaged. Cutting marks are usually indicated by a pair of small scissors or other clear symbols.
3. Stripping the Strip
Use wire strippers to strip the ends of the wires by about 5-10 mm to expose the copper wires. Please make sure that there are no breaks in the exposed copper wires.
4、Connecting the wires to the light strip
Method 1: Use a quick-connect connector
Select the appropriate quick-connect connector. Connect the wire at one end and the LED strip at the other end.
Open the connection connector and insert the corresponding positive and negative terminals of the wire and light strip into the connector. Make sure that the copper wire is completely embedded inside the connector.
Close the connection connector for a tight fit.
Method 2: Soldering Connection
Using a soldering iron and soldering wire, solder the stripped wire to the copper patch of the light strip.
Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles, and solder according to positive pole to positive pole and negative pole to negative pole.
After soldering, use electric tape or heat shrink tubing to protect the soldering point to avoid short circuit.
Test connection
1、Test connection
Use a multimeter to check if the connection is correct. Make sure that there is no short circuit after the wire is connected to the light strip before energizing.
2、Connect the power supply
Connect the connected LED strip wires to the corresponding power supply.
Connect the power supply and make sure the positive and negative poles correspond. If you are using an adapted power plug, make sure it is safely inserted and secure.
3、Test the light strip
Turn on the power supply and test whether the LED strip is working properly. All LEDs should be on and flicker-free.
Installation
1、Fix the light strip
Use double-sided tape or special light tape clip to fix the light tape to the desired position. Make sure it is fixed firmly to avoid falling off.
2、Tidy up the wires
Use cable ties or electrical tape to organize the excess wires. Keep it tidy and will not affect the aesthetics.
Troubleshooting
1、No light or partly no light
Check if the power supply is energized and the voltage is correct.
Check whether the connection point is firm and the welding point is good.
2、Flickering or dimming
May be insufficient power supply or unstable power supply, check whether the power supply matches the specifications of the light strip.
Confirm that the contact is good, no loose.
